Boho

History of the Boho Style
As its name suggests, this unique and eclectic style was born in the Czech Republic region of Bohemia and is rebellious by nature. The style is heavily influenced by the Romani people and finds roots in the rejection of social norms, embracing freedom in the very sense.
Bohemian style first appeared on a major stage in Paris fashion in the 1800’s, spurred on by writers and artists who gravitated to the flamboyant nature of the style and value placed on creativity over monetary gain. For the next 100 years or so it remained in relative obscurity until its revival in the 1960’s when the “hippie” movement found commonality in the values and nature of a Bohemian lifestyle.
Since the 60’s and 70’s, Boho has thrived in the world of fashion and interior design giving people a space to express themselves as individuals outside the mainstream while creating highly personalized looks. Boho style often incorporates an eclectic mix of colors, patterns, textures, and natural materials that layer with décor and world-wide cultural influences to create a style that is both universal and individually unique. Use this style to embrace your own many layers and sides – make your home a reflection of your unique self.

Derived from a nomadic lifestyle, Bohemian, or “Boho,” is a mix of cultures, materials, and textures.
Natural components such as wood, stone, macrame, animal hide, rattan, cotton, leather, wool, crochet, and jute feature prominently in various shades of warm earth tones. A reflection of its traveling roots, Boho draws on global influences from areas such as India, Africa, Peru, and Morocco to create a soulful yet tranquil experience – and with a focus on environmental consciousness, it’s no wonder that lush foliage and blooms are often incorporated to add pops of color against an inviting natural palette.
This is a style you can make entirely your own by incorporating personal items you’ve gathered from your travels, unique antique pieces, comfortable throws and pillows, eclectic decor, or whatever makes this space feel like your personal oasis.
